Lawn Transformations at Sanislo School

We have a workparty this coming Saturday, March 28 at Sanislo School wetland, near the playground entrance on 18th Ave SW.
Seattle Public School District is participating in the “lawn transformation” grant funded by King County Wastewater Treatment Division in an effort to reduce air pollution from lawn mowing, pollution that taints rainwater and bio-accumulates in salmon, orcas, and us.  We’ll have one additional workparty in the planting season next winter to plant native evergreen plants that help intercept winter stormwater.
We’ll be sheetmulching to eradicate the grass, laying cardboard and spreading woodchips. Thank you to Seattle Public Schools for reducing their mowing liability.
